Hydrogen Production
Byproduct

Our activated carbon will be produced as a high-value byproduct of hydrogen production at our upcoming facility in West Virginia. During the coal-to-hydrogen process, coal undergoes high-temperature pyrolysis under anoxic conditions, producing clean hydrogen gas and a carbon-rich char. This char is then steam-activated at 900–1100°C, selectively opening the pore structure to create an enormous internal surface area.

The result is a highly porous material with surface areas ranging from 650 to 1,300 m²/g and a well-developed network of micropores (<2 nm) and mesopores (2–50 nm). This pore structure gives our activated carbon exceptional adsorption capacity for removing organic contaminants, chlorine, volatile organic compounds, and a wide range of impurities.

We are currently offering pre-production offtake agreements at significantly discounted pricing. Buyers who commit volume now—before the facility is operational—lock in preferred rates and guaranteed capacity allocation for the long term.
